To improve the level of dignity, education, opportunity and health for orphaned, abandoned, abused, and/or neglected and special needs children, single mothers and families on the north coast of Honduras.
This will be accomplished through programs designed to provide opportunity, education, hope and love as well as providing for the spiritual, physical, emotional, educational, medical, and recreational needs of underprivileged children, both in new and existing Children's Homes (orphanages), marginalized rural communities, and in schools. We also strive to share the love of Jesus Christ everywhere we go through acts of kindness and love.
Statement of Belief
Helping Honduras Kids exists to provide much needed food, education, shelter, and hope for abandoned, abused, and neglected children in Honduras—one of the poorest countries in the world. We strive to provide aid to as many orphaned and vulnerable children as possible. Ultimately our goal is to enable these kids to become responsible, healthy, and fulfilled Christian adults, who are then empowered to instill those same values in their children and communities where they live. Children at our Jungle School and Children’s Home are taught about Jesus Christ, His unending love for them, and that their life has a purpose. Prayer is part of everyday life in our school and children in the Hogar de Amor attend church several times each week. While each child’s circumstances are unique and often tragic, all are loved and cared for by our teachers, staff, and volunteers. We believe that we are part of God’s unfolding plan to make a difference in the youth of Honduras.
We believe in the one true and living God, in Jesus Christ, His Son and Savior, and the Holy Spirit. Just as we accept and work with all children regardless of their religious affiliation or lack thereof, we also welcome sponsors, donors, groups, and volunteers from all walks of life. What matters most is a willing heart to help a child in desperate need.
We are Bible believing Christians and our values reflect the commandments of the Word of God. Jesus said, “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Mathew 22:37-39
We believe the most important thing is to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and we strive to share the love of Jesus Christ everywhere we go through acts of kindness and love.
The following scriptures exemplify the beliefs we strive to put into practice.
We believe caring for orphans and others is part of the ministry of Christ as stated in James 1:27:
External religious worship [religion as it is expressed in outward acts] that is pure and unblemished in the sight of God the Father is this: to visit and help and care for the orphans and widows in their affliction and need, and to keep oneself unspotted and uncontaminated from the world. AMP
We believe that God has a plan for these children’s lives as stated in Jeremiah 29:11.
For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. NKJ
We believe that God is love, 1John 4:8b, and that love is the greatest of all. 1Co 13:13 And now abide faith, hope love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. NKJ
