Cangrejal River Grandma's Kids

Grandma’s Kids started in 2005 when HHK began assisting Grandmas in the north coastal Cangrejal River Area.   Since then, Grandma’s Kids has grown to support many children living with several Grandmas.  HHK identifies family groups at risk and provides support and supplies to their caregivers. One of the key concerns in this program is the epidemic rise of HIV/AIDS which is the second most common cause of death is Honduras.   Some of these children have lost caregivers and loved ones due to HIV/AIDS.   Donations go to support these “home” environments with loving Grandmas, food, medical care, clothing, school supplies, school uniforms, and school fees so children are able to stay in school and become more educated.  HHK believes that a good education is one of the only ways out of poverty for many of these kids. HHK believes it is important to support area initiatives like Grandma’s Kids.  It is hoped that these family units will provide a home-like experience and help families to stay intact, thus avoiding the heartbreak of children becoming orphans or sending children to government institutions.  Grandma’s Kids need your generous donations of $100 a month to sponsor a family in Honduras.
