Board of Directors & Officers:
Our Board of Directors is comprised of people who have the vision and determination to make a difference for the children of Honduras. They are a volunteer Board that CARES about the welfare of “our” children. HHK believes that opportunity, education, hope and love are what children need to break the cycle of poverty and abuse.
 David Ashby worked for Dole Fresh Fruit as a Senior Research Scientist for more than 30 years, carrying out research projects on bananas and pineapples. Most of this time was spent in La Ceiba, Honduras, but David also did research for 1 year in the Philippines and for 6 years in Costa Rica. David is now retired from Dole but still lives in the La Ceiba area and has been active for many years in helping the needy, especially children. For the past 12 years, he has been involved as a volunteer with projects that help orphaned, abandoned and abused children of the north coast area of Honduras. In February 2006, he incorporated Helping Honduras Kids in the State of California and is dedicated to providing a brighter future for disadvantaged children in Honduras. David is currently serving as the President and Chairman of Helping Honduras Kids.
 Mark Reeves is a native of the city of Albany in upstate NY. Mark graduated from Siena College in 1989 with a BS in marketing management, but not before starting his first business ‘Siena Sealers’ which was launched during his junior year of college. The business outgrew its name and later became Pavement Technology Services Corp, a full service pavement maintenance company. In 2002, Mark founded Pavement Technologies International Corp which, primarily through its websites, sells paving equipment to customers from around the world. Mark and his wife Christina have a 3 year old son, Noah and they enjoy ‘everything outdoors’. Mark brings his entrepreneurship and 20 years of business experience to helping the kids of Honduras. “What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal.” (Albert Pine) Mark currently serves as Treasurer.
 Stewart McClure is the president and owner of Apache Asphalt & Seal Corp. and president of Clear Water Solutions, Inc. With a degree in marketing from San Diego State University, Stewart brings a powerful marketing and sales background to the operations of Helping Honduras Kids. Stewart has also become a stockbroker, and owned and operated several other businesses including an advertising agency, computer software company and a surf wax company. He resides in San Diego, California with his wife and four children. Stewart has been involved in a variety of projects to help families and children in Mexico, Central America, and South America. He has made several trips to Honduras during the past 18 years and believes that each of us can make a real difference in another’s life if we only try.
Jim Storbeck is a native of Cedar Falls, Iowa and currently resides in Auburn, Alabama with his wife Alicia. Jim and Alicia founded Initial Outfitters, a home party direct sales company. Through the donation of profits from a specially designed line of personalized lunchboxes, IO sponsors eight lunchrooms serving 500 needy children in Honduras, Guatemala, and Mexico. Jim is also founder and CEO of Heartstrings Enterprises, a nationwide wholesaler of personalized products. Heartstrings and its retailers support Helping Honduras Kids by informing the public about HHK and donating profits from a specially designed line of jewelry. Jim earned his Bachelor’s degree in Management from the University of Northern Iowa and his MBA from Wake Forest University. He has served on the Board of Directors for Iglesia Hispana Vida Nueva and currently plays the piano at his church.
 Maria R. Ashby (Rocio) grew up in Honduras and Costa Rica, where she witnessed first hand the cycle of poverty that traps many Central American families and their children. She continues to have deep roots in Honduras through her parents and extended family that live there. For years, Rocio has sponsored orphaned children through an international orphanage operating in Honduras. She currently resides with her family in Southern California, where she practices law, and travels to Honduras whenever she can. Rocio provides legal advice to HHK and is currently serving as Secretary.
 Kyla McClure is a current student at Georgetown University. She is studying political economy, with a possible double minor in Justice and Peace Studies, and Spanish. Before beginning her freshman year at college, she took a gap year where she spent 6 months working with Helping Honduras Kids as a volunteer and English teacher. She had an extremely rewarding experience. Working with HHK inspired her to do what she can for the incredible children that the organization assists. During high school, she organized a service trip with 20 students from her school to help construct the third classroom of the jungle School. Her high school returned again the following year and will be back in Honduras in 2012. Kyla is currently working on a pilot program to bring students working with Learning Enterprises to Honduras to teach English in the summer.
 Meily Garrido is a native Honduran who while in her teens had a great opportunity to live in Hoyt Lakes, Minnesota for a year (2000-2001) where she was able to learn English. After returning from Minnesota she began translating for various mission teams and in January 2002 joined Frontline Missions, a non-profit organization of Fairburn, Georgia, USA as a translator. In 2006 she was named Frontline Missions Honduras Executive Director. Through her work at Frontline Missions, coordinating and promoting short term medical, construction, creative outreach, teaching and training mission trips in different communities up in the mountains of Honduras, Meily has been able to help people in Honduras transform their communities. Meily feels blessed by all of the opportunities she has had in her life and feels grateful to be able to help and serve the people of Honduras in as many ways as is possible. She has also traveled on mission trips to El Salvador and Ecuador. Meily has a degree in business from CURLA - UNAH University of Honduras and she resides in La Ceiba. Meily is currently involved in several HHK projects, is a board member of our Honduran sister board Ayudando Niños Hondureños and acts as a liaison between the Honduran and US Directors.
