Jungle School

Our volunteer, Toshi from New York City is a Black Belt in Karate! He gave the JS kids lessons this morning down by the river in front of the school.

He really had the kids working up a sweat, before taking a dip in the river. Later we had lunch, including squid, something new for everyone.

Happy Birthday Tio Julio & Don David!

The kids did a magnificent job with their program and Tara and Bethany spent many hours getting them ready. There was also a piñata and a great meal followed by a beautiful cake.

The morning commute. We´re standing because the truck bed was covered with a disgusting olive or fruit paste, not because we wanted to look like a gringo parade riding through town. Which we did.

Moving

Hogar kids

Hi, We are still in the throes of moving. Not something I would wish on my worst enemy. Thanks to all for your kind comments on our house. It's more house than I will ever need, but women look at things differently.

We took all the Hogar kids to the movies this afternoon, Eve's treat. There were some volunteers along, including Tara, who will be leaving us soon. We will sure miss her, after all of her considerable help for the past year.

Later, everyone went to our new house, where we took the attached photos, and then on to Popeyes for a chicken supper, my treat.

Eve has filled everyone in on her visit and the volunteer meeting we had with TWENTY volunteers. The floor above the Spanish school (Rafael) burned down the other day, but fortunately Rafael had only minimal damage. This is where our volunteers take their Spanish lessons.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend. Remember, please keep those "new sponsors" coming in. Our kids are counting on each of us. They don't have anyone else they can count on in their lives.
